# How Treatment Abroad Works

From your first call to follow-up in London, step by step

Treatment with Family Art IVF starts and ends in London. Your consultation is with our UK team, and your tests and follow-up scans take place at our partner clinic in London, MotherScan, and you travel only for the treatment days, at DNA Clinic in Baku or Miracle Hospital in Cyprus. For most journeys that means short visits: woman 1 day, man 1 day, at least 5 days apart.

## London, then Baku or Cyprus, then London

Three places, one team. Everything that can happen close to home happens in London.

Medical genetic screening is an additional stage within a treatment plan, not a separate treatment.

On day 5, a few cells are taken from each embryo for genetic testing, and the embryos are frozen.

2. Step 2 · Laboratory

For genetic screening, cells are taken on day 5 and results take about 15 days, so the embryos are frozen and transferred on a later visit. For gender selection, cells are taken on day 3 and results are ready by day 5, in time for a fresh transfer.

Medical genetic screening is an additional stage within a treatment plan, not a separate treatment.

## Fertility Testing

Draft treatment information requires clinical approval. Timing is individual. This is a guide to the process, not a suitability assessment.

## Who travels, and for how long

Short visits: one day at a time. A longer stay is possible, but short visits are what we recommend.

| Treatment | Woman | Man | Visits |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| IVF | 1 day | Does not need to travel | At least 5 days apart |
| Egg Donation | 1 day | 1 day | At least 5 days apart |
| Sperm Donation | 2 visits, 1 day each | Does not need to travel | At least 5 days apart |
| Embryo Donation | 1 day | Does not need to travel | One visit |
| Egg Freezing | 1 day | Does not need to travel | One visit |
| Sperm Freezing | Does not need to travel | 1 day | One visit |
| Tandem IVF | 1 day | Does not need to travel | At least 5 days apart |
| TESE / TESA | 1 day | Does not need to travel | At least 5 days apart |
| Frozen Embryo Transfer | 1 day | Does not need to travel | One visit |

PGD genetic screening and gender selection are added to one of these journeys. For genetic screening, cells are taken on day 5 and results take about 15 days, so the embryos are frozen and transferred on a later visit. For gender selection, cells are taken on day 3 and results are ready by day 5, in time for a fresh transfer.

## Questions about the process

How long do I need to be away?+

Woman 1 day, man 1 day, at least 5 days apart. For most treatments that means two short visits rather than one long stay. A 5-day stay is possible, but short visits are what we recommend.

Does my partner need to travel?+

It depends on the treatment. For egg donation the man spends one day at the clinic, on the day of egg collection. For embryo donation the man does not need to travel at all.

Can I choose the dates of my embryo transfer?+

With the frozen embryo transfer journey, yes, within limits. Frozen embryo transfer at a time you choose, at least 5 days later. Your womb is prepared and monitored at our partner clinic in London, MotherScan, and the transfer is booked once it is ready.

Is a fresh embryo transfer possible?+

In some cases. Donor and recipient cycles are synchronised. The man is at the clinic on the day of egg collection. Embryo transfer on day 5. You either stay for 5 days or make two 1-day visits at least 5 days apart. The frozen transfer is the journey we recommend, and your doctor explains the difference for you.

Who is my point of contact during treatment?+

Our UK team. They arrange your appointments at our partner clinic in London, MotherScan, book your days abroad with the clinic, and stay in touch with you before, during and after your visits, so you always know who to call.

How long does the whole process take, from first call to transfer?+

It depends on your treatment, your cycle and your test results. Our UK team plans your dates with you during your free consultation.

Where will the birth take place?+

In the UK, with NHS or private maternity care. Treatment takes place in Baku or Cyprus; the birth does not.
